Description of the winning projects
Category « AI for Sustainability »
« Mobile AI Waste Scanner (Quality Control in a Box – QCB) » by CRAB Traceability Systems
Luxembourg‑based startup CRAB Traceability Systems has developed the Mobile AI Waste Scanner (Quality Control in a Box – QCB), a fully portable and autonomous solution designed to transform quality control in waste management. Built on advanced computer vision, machine learning and edge AI technologies, this plug‑and‑play system analyzes waste streams in real time, directly on site and without any cloud dependency.
Artificial intelligence lies at the core of the solution. AI models automatically detect, segment and classify recyclable materials such as PET, aluminum, paper or construction waste, even under complex real‑world conditions where items may be crushed, dirty or partially obscured. The system replaces traditional manual waste audits — which are time‑consuming, costly and prone to human error — with automated, instant and auditable data, achieving accuracy levels above 90%.
Developed entirely in Luxembourg, the Mobile AI Waste Scanner ensures full data sovereignty and strict GDPR compliance, as no images or videos are stored or transmitted. Already deployed with public and private stakeholders in Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands, the solution significantly improves material recovery rates, reduces operational costs and turns waste management into a measurable economic opportunity. With this project, CRAB clearly illustrates how AI can drive data‑driven circularity while delivering concrete environmental and economic impact.

« Third party provider management oversight » by Fundvis
Fundvis has developed an artificial intelligence platform dedicated to third‑party provider oversight for regulated financial institutions. As regulatory complexity increases and supervisory expectations intensify, many market players still rely on fragmented processes based on spreadsheets, email exchanges and manual data aggregation and analysis.
Fundvis places AI at the core of the compliance framework by structuring the entire third‑party lifecycle – onboarding, due diligence, risk assessment, continuous monitoring and regulatory reporting – within a single, audit‑ready environment. The platform relies on an AI agent architecture combining document analysis, natural language processing, automated workflow orchestration and rule‑based validation aligned with regulatory frameworks, while maintaining a strict human‑in‑the‑loop model.
Already commercialized and used by several financial sector players, the solution strengthens operational risk control, traceability and regulatory alignment. With Fundvis, AI becomes a structuring lever for proactive, continuous and automated compliance, positioning Luxembourg as a key player in RegTech innovation in Europe.

« Cargolux AI Email Sales Parser » by Cargolux Airlines International
Cargolux’s AI Email Sales Parser is an enterprise-grade, agentic AI solution that transforms unstructured customer emails into structured, system-ready quotations within seconds. By combining Azure OpenAI with a scalable, event-driven architecture, the system identifies genuine SPOT requests, extracts shipment details across formats, and automatically generates draft quotes integrated into the commercial workflow, where final validation and approval remain a human responsibility.
Unlike traditional automation, the solution uses semantic reasoning to interpret complex, heterogeneous inputs and embeds AI directly into a revenue-critical process. With this enhanced approach, Sales teams benefit from increased processing capacity, and improved consistency. In parallel, this streamlined process significantly enhances data quality through standardized, validated inputs from the earliest stages, reducing errors and variability.
With thousands of AI-generated quotations across eight different markets and a 93% trust level benchmarked against human validation, the system demonstrates production-grade reliability. It delivers measurable gains in operational efficiency, data quality, and revenue generation, strengthening competitiveness in time-sensitive markets.
