The assembly in the face of COVID-19: prospects for 2020

In view of the current situation marked by containment measures and restrictions against the coronavirus, the statutory general meeting of FEDIL took place on 30 April 2020 in the form of a videoconference.

The activity report presented, shows a year 2019 marked by an intensification of activities in the field of talent as well as actions and initiatives in the field of green deal and digitalization of companies and administrations.

FEDIL members agreed that digitalisation and energy transformation will have to be important vectors in the necessary elaboration of an economic recovery plan, both for the country and at the European level.

As many sectors of the economy have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the implementation of such a plan would be carried out under the constraint of a significant reduction in the investment capacity of companies and with a view to using public financial resources efficiently in order to produce a leverage effect on our economy.

In the context of the COVID-19 crisis, FEDIL believes that it can draw positive conclusions from the adaptation of their organisation to which companies were forced, and more particularly from experiments in teleworking. The federation also stresses the need to meet with our neighbouring countries with a view to perpetuating the agreements currently in force in the fields of social security and taxation relating to telework by frontier workers.

Furthermore, FEDIL places particular emphasis on the resumption of activity while respecting health measures and offering a high level of security to its employees. As the voice of Luxembourg’s industry, FEDIL continues to ensure its role of information, support and above all as an intermediary between its members and the authorities and political decision-makers, both at national and European level.

Statutory appointments :

Mr. Charles-Louis Ackermann, Mr. Adrien Ney and Mr. Claude Baer are leaving the board of directors. FEDIL wishes to thank them for their efforts in favour of the industrial cause.

In addition, the general meeting appointed Mr Jean Muller (CEO, Moulins de Kleinbettingen S.A.) and Mr Romain Hoffmann (Managing Director, Aral Luxem-bourg S.A.) to the Board of Directors.
