Luxembourg, le 18 septembre 2020 – La FEDIL soutient le message de BusinessEurope<\/a>[1]<\/strong><\/sup> au sujet des ambitions climatiques renforc\u00e9es. La f\u00e9d\u00e9ration rejoint particuli\u00e8rement les propos de Markus J. Beyrer, directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de BusinessEurope, concernant les moyens d\u2019atteindre ces ambitions climatiques annonc\u00e9es par la Commission europ\u00e9enne : \u201cOur common European ambition to become climate neutral inevitably drives the acceleration of emissions reduction. <\/strong>But to be successful, it must be underpinned by a strong EU industry strategy, that considers the unprecedented economic impact of Covid-19 and does not lose sight of the international situation. <\/strong><\/p>\n

We will therefore carefully check the impact assessment to understand whether the European Commission puts forward a credible business plan to reach this ambition cost-effectively and to take account of the economic logic. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The 2030 target debate is not the most pressing issue for industry. As the International Energy Agency’s <\/strong>recent report<\/a> found, most low-carbon technologies needed for a climate-neutral future are still in their prototype stage. The next big investment round to commercialise these will only begin around 2030. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The \u2018how\u2019 questions are the most important for us right now. The European Commission needs to answer how we\u2019ll mobilise green investments, ensure enough cheap green energy for our industries and assure a global level playing field. How can we bring society at large on board?\u201d (Markus J. Beyrer, <\/strong>\u201c2030 climate target must be aligned with strong EU industry strategy\u201d)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

La FEDIL aussi est persuad\u00e9e qu\u2019il faut trouver r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 certaines questions, notamment la mobilisation des financements n\u00e9cessaires, la disponibilit\u00e9 en quantit\u00e9 suffisante d\u2019\u00e9nergie z\u00e9ro-carbone ou encore le besoin d\u2019un level playing field au niveau mondial, pour pouvoir atteindre avec succ\u00e8s les objectifs climatiques jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019ann\u00e9e 2030.<\/p>\n

Ren\u00e9 Winkin, directeur de la FEDIL, ajoute : \u00ab Si des investissements rapides et cons\u00e9quents dans le cadre de la protection du climat font partie int\u00e9grante du plan de relance europ\u00e9en, les acteurs politiques devront veiller \u00e0 ce que la r\u00e9alisation des objectifs politiques s\u2019op\u00e8re sans casse \u00e9conomique et sociale dans les secteurs industriels expos\u00e9s. \u00bb<\/strong><\/p>\n
