The Luxembourg Space Industries association GLAE signs MoU with Benelux partners to boost regional space and defense cooperation

Digital & Innovation

On 16 June 2025, the Luxembourg Space Industries Association (GLAE), hosted by FEDIL – The Voice of Luxembourg’s Industry, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with its Benelux counterparts during the Paris Air Show. This signature marks a continuation and extension of the Benelux space industry collaboration initiated in September 2024 in Noordwijk (NL).

The MoU brings together GLAE, Flanders Space, Wallonie Espace, Brussels Aerospace Group, and SpaceNed with a shared ambition to deepen cooperation across the space and defense sectors, and to create new industrial and research opportunities within the Benelux and beyond.

By building on strong geographic and historic ties, the partnership aims to develop a ecosystem for R&D, innovation, and new product and service development. In particular, the MoU provides a framework for further collaboration on strategic themes such as space-based security, dual-use technologies, and critical infrastructure protection. The partners will also work together to advance the use of space data and infrastructure in key domains for the region.

“This agreement paves the way for smarter, faster, and more connected collaboration between our industries,” said Yves Elsen, Chairman of GLAE. “It reflects our shared commitment to reinforce Europe’s space capabilities and to strengthen the Benelux as a dynamic innovation hub.”

GLAE, as the representative association of Luxembourg’s space industry, plays an active role in promoting international cooperation and supporting its members’ participation in ESA, EU, and NATO programmes.

This MoU positions the Benelux as a united and forward-looking player in Europe’s evolving space and defense landscape.
