“The Challenges of Industrial Decarbonisation – can the EU remain competitive?”
This lecture will explore the fundamental challenges European heavy industries face while transforming towards a low-carbon economy. These encompass transitioning from established fossil-based technologies and feedstocks to non-fossil alternatives, as well as the necessary expansion of renewable energy supply and associated infrastructure, including CO2 capture and storage. In this context, the current German strategies, and policies for supporting industries during the transition will be examined.
