Luxembourg, 17 June 2025. On Tuesday, the first Luxembourg AI Excellence Awards ceremony was held as part of the NEXUS Luxembourg 2025 conference at Luxexpo The Box, in the presence of Elisabeth Margue, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Media and Connectivity. The event was attended by numerous guests, members of the jury and the winners of this first edition of 2025.
Initiated by FEDIL, in partnership with Luxinnovation and with the support of the Chamber of Commerce, this competition aims to celebrate excellence in artificial intelligence in Luxembourg. It honours bold innovative projects, significant technological breakthroughs and concrete applications of AI for the benefit of the economy, society or the environment.
No fewer than 55 projects were submitted for this inaugural edition. After a rigorous assessment by a jury of experts from the public and private sectors, four prizes and a “Coup de Coeur” were awarded:
Luxembourg AI Excellence Award 2025 in the “AI Adoption” category
Fischer S.A. for the project “AI-enhanced order management”
Fischer, founded in Luxembourg in 1913, is a network of 70 bakeries operating in Luxembourg and France. Every day, sales teams must place orders for over 400 product references – a real operational challenge. Traditional methods, based solely on human experience, can lead to stockouts at the end of the day or, conversely, to excess stock and waste. Finding no commercial tool truly suited to its needs, Fischer developed – in partnership with Resultance – an AI-based order recommendation system. This system predicts daily demand and recommends optimal order quantities for each product and each point of sale. Key challenges addressed included reconstructing historical demand, forecasting at a granular level, managing a highly diverse product range, and integrating with the existing point-of-sale system. Tested in 10 stores, the solution led to a 4% increase in sales and a 1.5% reduction in waste. It is currently being rolled out across the entire network, with an expected return on investment within three months.

Cebi International S.A. & DataThings S.A. for the “Predictive” project
Cebi launched its Industry 4.0 journey in 2018 to overcome manufacturing inefficiencies, paper-based process and disconnected production machines. In partnership with DataThings and the SnT of the University of Luxembourg, the company developed its own smart manufacturing platform: Predictive, an AI-powered operational digital twin. It integrates real-time data from production, energy, maintenance, and quality, helping teams anticipate issues and optimize efficiency. Built on DataThings’ GreyCat© technology, Predictive enables fine-grained traceability and dynamic quality control based on environmental conditions. It also identifies the most suitable machine configurations based on historical data, reducing setup times and improving product quality. First deployed in Luxembourg in 2023, Predictive is now rolled out globally across all Cebi plants worldwide. This Luxembourg-made technology demonstrated rapid return on investment: up to 60% scrap reduction in just six months, 20% boost in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) within the first year, and significant manufacturing costs savings. The system continues to evolve with new AI features, incorporating sustainability metrics and being prepared for commercialization in other industries.

Luxscan Technologies S.à r.l. for the project “AI vision systems for primary transformation in the wood industry”.
The AI-powered transverse wood scanner project developed by Luxscan Technologies integrates advanced AI into a next-gen scanner to assess and classify timber in real-time during transversal transport. Combining traditional scanning hardware with deep learning models, it detects, segments, and classifies wood features with unprecedented speed and precision. Unlike longitudinal systems, this transverse scanner enables very high speeds. Trained on vast datasets, the AI makes real-time decisions on defect detection for sorting, cutting, or rerouting lumber, enhancing yield and quality. Deployed directly on the scanner, it ensures instantaneous grading without cloud latency. This innovation boosts efficiency and more importantly, reduces waste in the wood industry.
Luxembourg AI Excellence Award 2025 in the “AI Innovation Excellence” category
Data Design Engineering S.à r.l. for the project “Intelligence on Edge Device Offline AI Technology”.
Data Design Engineering (DDE) introduces On Edge Device Offline AI Technology, embedding AI models within robots and unmanned equipment for autonomous operations even offline. Utilizing compressed Large Multi-Model (LMM) AI systems, it supports real-time decision-making, planning, and human interaction without cloud reliance. Core capabilities include SWARM AI, high AI model density integration, AI-driven sensor fusion, collision avoidance, offline SLAM, autonomous navigation, and domain-specific language models. Security features encompass code obfuscation, key distribution, hardware security modules, and physical tamper detection. Applications span drones, AGVs, satellites, ground systems, unmanned vessels, mobile robots, and more. Benefits include true offline autonomy, ultra-high AI model density, versatility across industries, security-first architecture, and AI-driven sensor fusion. The All-in-One AI Chip delivers seamless integration of various AI models, maximizing AI model capacity per chip with minimized computational needs and cost footprint.

Neon Internet for the “LetzAI” project
LetzAI is a creative platform that allows you to generate images of anything you know, simply by tagging it in a text. Users can personalize their experience by adding AI models to the community, including themselves, their products, or their unique artistic styles. An AI model acts as a digital clone, trained on your images to generate new pictures by tagging its unique name in prompts. LetzAI’s AI taxonomy system, an “AI Token Factory,” links unique tokens to curated datasets, serving as a data backbone for AI applications. Currently supporting image content, LetzAI’s opt-in methodology can extend to video, audio, or voice. LetzAI’s image quality is top-tier, ensuring consistent images across generations. Other features include upscaling, API access, and several powerful image editing tools for virtual try-ons. On LetzAI, brands maintain control over their IP. LetzAI’s user-focused configuration allows unprecedented control over representations and allows anyone to generate any niche item. Built as a social network, users can engage with the community by sharing and adding their own AI models and generated images.
Fully meeting the criteria set out in the Awards rules, the winning projects were selected on the basis of their innovative and original nature, their demonstrated use of AI technologies, their effective implementation and their potential impact, whether economic, societal or environmental.
Emmanuel Vivier, chairman of the jury and co-founder of the HUB Institute, praised the enthusiasm generated by this first edition of the Luxembourg AI Excellence Awards: “Among the 55 private sector companies that submitted their applications, we find start-ups, SMEs as well as large established players, from all fields of activity. This confirms that artificial intelligence affects all economic players.”
Minister Elisabeth Margue emphasised the excellence and dynamism of the national AI ecosystem: “These innovative projects illustrate the ability of our companies to integrate artificial intelligence into their research, development and innovation processes. It is a key driver of competitiveness, helping to strengthen the Luxembourg economy.”
On the strength of this first success, FEDIL, Luxinnovation and the Chamber of Commerce have already announced their intention to repeat the experience with a next edition planned for 2026.
